1. You can’t arrange air transportation for a dead body on your own.Most airlines will transport dead bodies, but you must work with a funeral director or a specialized transport company. The shipper must be designated as a “known shipper” by the TSA. Many funeral homes are approved as known shippers. |

I’m trying to find what would be the least expensive way to get a body from Texas (where we do not live or know anyone) up to Minnesota, by both funeral homes that we can trust to do it correctly and reasonably priced and have worked each other in the past or at the very least both are known as “Know Shipper”!

Hi Deborah, Most all funeral homes are “known shippers” to the airlines. I would suggest that you call a few funeral homes in the area of Texas where you would need services. Ask for a price on a “Ship Out” (this is when the funeral home is picking up the deceased and preparing for shipping to another funeral home.) They may not be able to give a price on the airfare as that is determined by the airline at the time of travel, but could likely give you an idea of a cost range. You will also want to contact your funeral home in Minnesota to get their pricing for that end.
