As Suicide Prevention Month comes to a close, we are once more suggesting that if you are troubled, speak up. We also urge you to be aware of those friends and family members who may be suffering. We hope that if this is a case you will start a conversation with them. It could mean the difference between life and death.

9/27/15-smh.com.au: Does Anne Hathaway want to be buried or cremated when she dies? The actress looks bemused by the question – inspired by a scene in her new film comedy, The Intern – and responds: “You want my death plan?” “I don’t want to be buried,” she goes on to explain in her soothing, effervescent tone. “I either want to be cremated or I hear they can now bury you at the root of a tree, so I’d like that too – as long as it’s a protected tree that’s not going to become a piece of Ikea furniture… Read the full story
9/24/15-dailymail.co.uk: At least 717 people have been crushed to death and hundreds of others hurt in a stampede of pilgrims in one of the worst incidents in years to hit the Muslim Hajj in Saudi Arabia. Saudi Arabia’s civil defence service said rescue operations were under way after the stampede in Mina, where almost two million pilgrims were taking part in the last major rite of the Hajj. Pictures showed a horrific scene, with scores of bodies – the men dressed in the simple terry cloth garments worn during Hajj – lying amid crushed wheelchairs and water bottles along a sunbaked street… Read full story
9/23/15-nytimes.com: Yogi Berra, one of baseball’s greatest catchers and characters, who as a player was a mainstay of 10 Yankees championship teams and as a manager led both the Yankees and the Mets to the World Series — but who may be more widely known as an ungainly but lovable cultural figure, inspiring a cartoon character and issuing a seemingly limitless supply of unwittingly witty epigrams known as Yogi-isms — died on Tuesday. He was 90… Read the full story
9/23/15-consequenceofsound.net: There is a retrospectively twisted Phil Spector quote that points out the pessimistic way people talk about those who have passed. “It’s like when somebody dies — all the people do is yell, ‘He died, he died,’” he said in 1969. “I yell, ‘He lived.’ A hell of a lot more important than the fact that he’s dead, is the fact that he lived.” The quote was picked up by Greil Marcus in an examination of a lesser-known Amy Winehouse cover of “To Know Him Is to Love Him”, a classic but (some might say) undeserving 1958 hit by Spector’s band The Teddy Bears… Read the full story
9/23/15-theblaze.com: Hundreds of people in Dickson, Tennessee, turned out at the funeral for an American veteran they didn’t even know. Ronnie Toler died at the age of 66 with nobody to claim his body. But thanks to his fellow veterans, service members, concerned citizens and a social media campaign by the Dickson Funeral Home, he was put to rest at the Middle Tennessee State Veteran’s Cemetery with all the military honors he deserved, according to WTVF-TV… Read the full story
9/21/15-dailymail.co.uk: Many people assume that romance fades as couples grow older, but a heartbreaking video of an elderly man singing to his dying wife shows that for some, love lasts a lifetime. 9/22/15-telegraph.co.uk: There have been a few tragic news stories about selfie deaths in the past year or so, but until now it hasn’t been so clear exactly how rife the selfie death phenomenon really is. You may be more afraid of sharks than selfies, but actually statistically the latter is more deadly… Read the full story
