If you are at HarbourCats baseball stadium in Victoria, BC tonight when the hometown team meets the Corvallis Knights you may just win a pretty nice prize—a funeral! Yes, that’s right. One lucky winner will take home the prize of a lifetime. More accurately, the end-of-a-lifetime.

WALLACE CREMATION SERVICE are providers of cremation and funeral service to the people of Vancouver Island, and are pleased to offer the draw winner a basic cremation package, which includes but not limited to the following – cremation service, cremation casket, and one original death certificate. This has a retail value of $2,500.”

To make the prize even better, the winner will also get free financial planning consultation, a Last Will and Testament, and advance directives.

The giveaway is presented in a lighthearted way, but the idea behind the promotion is serious. Jim Swanson, Managing Partner of the HarbourCats recently experienced an unexpected death in the family. It was this event that gave him the idea of creating something to raise awareness of the need for funeral planning.

“This is a way to bring awareness to making sure people plan their futures in a way that helps their family deal with something that is inevitable to us all,” said HarbourCats Managing Partner, Jim Swanson.”
