Carol Ann Susi, the actress known most recently for her role as the mother of the off-screen voice of the Howard Wolowitz character in the hit TV series The Big Bang Theory, died on Tuesday, November 11, 2014 after a battle with cancer. She was 62.
“The Big Bang Theory family has lost a beloved member today,” the show’s executive producers said in a statement following her death Tuesday.
“Unseen by viewers, the Mrs. Wolowitz character became a bit of a mystery throughout the show’s eight seasons. What was not a mystery, however, was Carol Ann’s immense talent and comedic timing, which were on display during each unforgettable appearance.”

During her career, Ms. Susi appeared in a number of television shows including Seinfeld, Grey’s Anatomy, Just Shoot Me, Becker, and That ’70s show. She was also in the film Coyote Ugly.
